October 27

I fished at a private sand pit lake in the late afternoon for a few hours and caught largemouth bass between 8 and 14 inches, and an 18-inch walleye. These fish were caught around deep points, edges of deep flats, underwater brush piles, and deep weed beds using a 1/16-oz. Marabou Jig. The water clarity in this sand pit lake is very clear with a visibility of 10 feet or more.

October 26

My friend and I fished at Red Willow Reservoir in the afternoon. We caught good numbers of white bass up to 15 inches, and wipers between 15 and 18 inches around underwater humps, deep road beds, and near the dam areas in depths of 26 feet or less. I caught these fish on a ¾-oz. Silver Buddy bladebait, and a flutter spoon, and my friend caught his on a 1-oz. homemade jigging spoon. The surface water temperature is averaging around 48 degrees on the main lake.

October 24

I fished at a private sand pit lake in the late afternoon and caught a Master Angler crappie at 16 inches. I also caught smaller crappies between 8 and 14 inches, largemouth bass between 10 and 17 inches, yellow perch up to 12 inches, and a 20-inch walleye. These fish were caught on a ¾-oz. Silver Buddy bladebait, and a 1/16-oz, Marabou Jig around deep points, edges of deep flats, and deep weed beds in depths of 28 feet or less. The water clarity in this sand pit lake is very clear with a visibility of eight feet or more.

October 16, 17, 19

I fished at two different private sand pit lakes in the mid-afternoon. I caught three Master Angler Fish including a 37-inch flathead catfish, a 15 ¼-inch crappie, and a 14 ½-inch yellow perch. I also caught smaller crappies between 9 and 14 inches, yellow perch up to 12 ¾ inches, largemouth bass up to 15 inches, and bluegills up to 9 inches. These fish were caught on a flutter spoon, 1/16-oz. Marabou Jigs, and 1/4-, 1/2-, and 3/4-oz. Silver Buddy bladebaits around deep points, edges of deep flats, underwater brush piles, and deep weed beds in depths of 28 feet or less. The water clarity in these two sand pit lakes is very clear with a visibility of 8 feet or more.

October 6, 7, 9

I fished at the same private sand pit lake in the afternoon on all three days. I caught good numbers of largemouth bass up to 16 inches, crappies up to 14 inches, bluegills up to 9 ½ inches, and a 21-inch walleye. These fish were caught on a 1/32- and 1/16-oz. Marabou Jigs around deep points, edges of deep flats, underwater brush piles, and deep weed beds in depths of 24 feet or less. The water clarity in this sand pit lake is very clear with a visibility of 10 feet or more.

October 3

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir and my client and I caught wtpers between 18 and 22 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, two walleyes up to 16 ½ inches, two crappies, and a small catfish. We caught these fish around underwater humps, main lake points, back in a deep cove, and near the dam areas in depths of 25 feet or less using Lytle's Secret tailspinners, flutter spoons, a 3/4-oz. Silver Buddy bladebait, and a Carolina rig using gizzard shad. The surface water temperature is in the lower 60s.

September 28-29

I fished at two different private sand pit lakes in the afternoon. I caught a Master Angler 17 ½-inch crappie, plus good numbers of smaller crappies between 9 and 14 inches. I also caught good numbers of largemouth bass up 19 inches, bluegills up to 9 inches, and a 12-inch yellow perch. I caught these fish on a flutter spoon, jig and plastic craw, drop shot rig using 4-inch plastic worms, and a 1/32-oz. white jig around underwater brush piles, deep points, and edges of weed beds in depths of 25 feet or less. The water clarity in these two sand pits lakes is very clear.

September 20, 22, 24, 25, 27

I fished at six different private sand pit lakes in the afternoon, and my brother Tim fished with me on September 20, 24, and 27. We caught good numbers of largemouth bass up to 19 inches, three Master Angler yellow perch at 15, 14 ¾, and 13 ½ inches, plus smaller perch between 8 and 12 inches, bluegill up to 9 inches, and a 22-inch walleye. We caught these fish on Lytle's Secret tailspinners, football jigs with plastic craws, jig heads with a 4-inch plastic worm, flutter spoons, blade baits, swimbaits, and a jig head with nightcrawler around deep points, edges of deep flats, underwater brush piles, and weed beds in depths of 25 feet or less.

September 19

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir and caught a Master Angler wiper at 27 inches. My clients and I also caught good numbers of wipers between 14 and 23 ½ inches, white bass up to 14 ½ inches, a few freshwater drum, a small walleye, and channel catfish. We caught these fish on a Carolina Rig using gizzard shad, 1-oz. Lytle's Secret tailspinners, 1-oz. homemade jigging spoon, flutter spoons, and a ¾-oz. Silver Buddy Bladebait around main lake points, underwater humps, underwater road beds, and near the dam areas in depths of 28 feet or less. The surface water temperature is averaging around 70 degrees.

September 17-18

I fished at Red Willow Reservoir in the afternoon. I caught good numbers of wipers between 15 and 23 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, 5 walleyes between 14 and 16 inches, and a few largemouth bass and freshwater drum. They were caught around main lake points, underwater humps, road beds, edges of a creek channel, and near the dam areas in depths of 28 feet or less using 1-, and 1 ½-oz. Lytle's Secret tailspinners, 3-, 4-, and 5-inch flutter spoons, a homemade 1-oz jigging spoon, and a ¾-oz. Silver Buddy Bladebait. The surface water temperature is in the lower 70s.

September 15-16

I fished at two different private sand pit lakes in the mid afternoon for a few hours. I caught largemouth bass between 12 and 18 ½ inches, and a Master Angler channel catfish at 30 ¼ inches. These fish were caught around the drop off next to points, edges of deep flats, and weed beds in depths of 20 feet or less on a 5-inch flutter spoon, 5-inch ProMinnow Swimbait, football jig with Strike King Rage craw, and a Spro Bronzeye Frog.

September 12-14

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir all three days. Two of my clients caught a Master Angler catfish including a flathead at 40 inches and a channel at 30 inches. My clients and I also caught good numbers of wipers between 14 and 22 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, channel catfish between 15 and 29 inches, seven small walleyes, and a few freshwater drum. We caught these fish around main lake points, underwater humps, edges of creek channels, underwater road beds, and near the dam areas in depths of 26 feet or less. They were caught a Carolina Rig with gizzard shad, 3-, 4-, and 5-inch flutter spoons, 1 oz. jigging spoons, and Lytle's Secret tailspinners. The surface water temperature is averaging around 70 degrees.

September 11

I fished at a private sand pit lake for a few hours in the mid afternoon. I caught 14 largemouth bass between 14 and 19 inches, and a 24-inch walleye on a 5-inch flutter spoon, and 4-and 5-inch swimbaits. These fish were caught around deep points, edges of deep weed beds, and drop offs next to deep flats in depths of 25 feet or less.

September 10

A friend and I fished at Red Willow Reservoir. We caught wipers between 14 and 22 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, a few freshwater drum, and a flathead catfish around 10 pounds. We caught these fish around underwater humps in depths of 24 feet or less using 3-, 4-, and 5-inch flutter spoons, and 1-oz. jigging spoons.

September 8-9

I fished at a private sand pit lake in the mid afternoon for a few hours. I caught a Master Angler largemouth bass at 21 inches, and good numbers of smaller bass between 13 and 19 ¼ inches. I caught these bass around points, edges of deep weed beds, and drop off next to deep flats in depths of 25 feet or less using 3-, 4-, and 5-inch flutter spoons, and 4- and 5-inch swimbaits. The water clarity in this sand pit is very clear and the keys to catching these bass was finding the large schools of gizzard shad suspending above the underwater structures and working the lures through them.

September 6

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir and my clients and I caught good numbers of wipers between 14 and 22 inches including a Master Angler wiper at 24 ½ inches, We also caught good numbers of white bass up to 14 inches, a 28-inch channel catfish, and a few walleyes around underwater humps, back in a deep cove, and near the dam areas in depths of 24 feet or less. These fish were caught on a Carolina rig with gizzard shad, 3-and 5-inch flutter spoons, and Lytle's Secret tailspinners. The surface water temperature is in the lower 70s.

September 5

My brother and I fished at three different private sand pit lakes and caught good numbers of largemouth between 12 and 19 inches around points, underwater brush piles, lay down trees, and edges of weed beds in depths of 20 feet or less. We caught these bass on jigs with plastic craw trailers and pork frogs, 5-inch flutter spoons, ProMinnow swimbaits, and Lytle's Secret tailspinners.

September 4

I fished with my chiropractor at his sand pit lake lake in the afternoon. We caught largemouth bass up to 17 ½ inches on plastic worms (senko), and football jigs with plastic craws around edges of weed beds, points, and brush piles. In the early evening, I fished at another private sand pit lake for a few hours and caught good numbers of largemouth bass between 14 and 19 inches on a Prominnow swimbait around points and edges of deep weed beds in depths of 20 feet or less.

September 3

I took a friend fishing at Red Willow Reservoir in the afternoon. I caught two Master Angler fish including a 37-inch flathead catfish and a 24-inch wiper. My friend and I also caught smaller wipers between 15 and 22 inches, and white bass up to 14 inches. We caught these fish around underwater humps, main lake points, and near the dam areas in depths of 24 feet or less using Lytle's Secret tailspinners, 3- and 5-inch flutter spoons, and 1-oz. jigging spoons. The surface water temperature was in the mid 70s.

September 1-2

I fished at two different private sand pit lakes in the mid afternoon for a few hours. I caught a Master Angler largemouth bass at 20 ½ inches, good numbers of smaller largemouth between 13 and 19 ½ inches, and a 22-inch walleye. These fish were caught on a 5-inch flutter spoon, football jig with plastic craw, a ProMinnow swimbait, and a Spro Bronzeye Frog around points, edges of weed beds, and underwater brush piles in depths of 25 feet or less.
