My brother, friends, and I went ice fishing at Swanson Reservoir. We
caught good numbers of white bass up to 15 inches, walleyes between
13 and 16 inches, a few wipers between 15 and 20 inches, and channel
catfish up to 20 inches. We caught these fish on a modified Lytle's
Secret Tail Spinner for ice fishing, and homemade jigging spoons
around an underwater ridge next to the river channel near the dam
area in depths of 26 to 34 feet.
December 28
My son, two brothers, and I went ice fishing at Medicine Creek
Reservoir, and also fished the creek below the reservoir. We caught
good numbers of white bass and crappies up to 14 inches, a few small
channel catfish, and a 18-inch wiper. We caught these fish on a
homemade jigging spoons, modified Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner for
ice fishing, and a small jig head with Berkley Gulp Alive minnow.
The crappies were caught around underwater brush piles in the mouth
of a cove in depths of 25 feet or less, and the white bass and
catfish were caught around a deep hole in the creek.
December 6
I went fishing with a friend at Swanson Reservoir in the afternoon,
and I caught a 33-inch Master Angler channel catfish, plus another
nice channel catfish at 29 inches. We also caught good numbers of
white bass up to 15 inches, a small wiper, and a few freshwater
drum. We caught most of these fish on a flutter spoon and a jigging
spoon around an underwater dike next to the river channel near the
dam area in depthw of 26 and 34 feet.

December 2
I went fishing with a friend at Swanson Reservoir in the afternoon.
We caught a Master Angler flathead catfish, channel catfish up to 25
inches, and freshwater drum up to 15 inches. We caught most of these
fish on a 4- and 5-inch Lake Fork Flutter Spoon, and my friend
caught a few on a XPS Freestyle Jigging spoon. These fish were
caught around an underwater dike next to the river channel near the
dam area in depths between 26 and 34 feet. The surface water
temperature is in the mid 30s.

November
18, 19, 22,
24, 26
I fished at a private sand pit lake in the mid afternoon. I caught
good numbers of crappies up to 14.50 inches, largemouth bass up to
17 inches, three walleye between 12 and 15 inches, and a few nice
bluegill up to 9 inches. I caught these fish on a jig head with a
Berkley Gulp! minnow, and a few on the Lake Fork Flutter Spoon
around the drop off next to points and underwater brush piles in
depths of 30 feet or less.
November
3, 4, 7, 12, and 13
I fished at a private sand pit lake in the mid-afternoon and caught
good numbers of crappies up to 14.50 inches, largemouth bass up to
18 inches, and bluegill up to 9 inches. I caught these fish on a jig
head with a Berkley Gulp! 3- and 4-inch minnow around the drop off
next to points, edges of deep weed beds, and underwater brush piles
in depth of 30 feet or less.
November 2
I fished with my chiropractor on his private sand pit lake in the
afternoon. We caught good numbers of crappies up to 14.50 inches,
largemouth bass up to 17 inches, bluegills up to 9 inches, and a
small walleye. We caught these fish around the drop off next to
points, underwater brush piles, and edges of deep weed beds in
depths of 25 feet or less using a jig head with a Berkley Gulp!
3-inch Minnow Grub, and a tube bait.
November 1
My brother Tim, a friend, and I fished below Medicine Creek
Reservoir in the spillway, and the creek in the mid-afternoon. We
caught good numbers of white bass, a small wiper about 16 inches, a
31-inch flathead catfish, and a 9-inch bluegill. We caught these
fish on a Lake Fork Flutter Spoon, and a jig head with a Berkley
Gulp! Minnow Grub, and Powerbait Minnow.
