I guided on Red Willow Reservoir all five days. My clients and I
caught good numbers of wipers between 14 and 23.75 inches, walleyes
up to 24 inches, northern pike up to 33 inches, white bass up to 13
inches, a few crappies between 11 and 13 inches, largemouth bass up
to 18 inches, and smallmouth bass between 10 and 16 inches. We
caught these fish on a Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, Reelbait
Flasher jigs with Berkley Gulp! Minnow, suspending jerkbaits,
swimbaits, topwater plugs, lipless crankbaits, shallow running
crankbaits, and a Carolina rig using shiners. These fish were caught
around main lake points, underwater humps, edges of creek channels,
flats next to deep water, back in coves, edges of flooded willow
trees, and along the dam areas. The surface water temperature is in
the mid 60s.
May 24, 26
My brother Tim, a friend and I fished at three different private
sand pit lakes in the afternoon. We caught a Master Angler
largemouth bass at 20.50 inches, plus good numbers of smaller
largemouth bass between 10 and 19.75 inches, crappies up to 14
inches, and bluegill up to 8 inches. We caught these fish around
edges of weed beds, cattails, brush piles, drop-offs, and flats next
to deep water using skirted jigs with a plastic trailer, swimbaits,
Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, and jigheads with a 4-inch plastic
worm.

May 20-22
I took Doug Stange (Editor In Chief for In-Fisherman) to Red Willow
Reservoir to do some filming for In-Fisherman Television. We caught
wipers, walleyes, white bass, and northern pike around main lake
points, along the dam areas, flats next to deep water, edges of
creek channels, underwater humps, and back in coves. We caught these
fish on topwater plugs, swimbaits, suspending jerkbaits, soft
jerkbaits, spoons and a Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner. The surface
water temperature is in the 60s.
May 17-19
I

caught a Master Angler wiper at 24.50 inches, plus good numbers of
smaller wipers between 14 and 23.75 inches, white bass up to 13
inches, walleyes between 15 and 24 inches, northern pike between
18 and 34 inches, and largemouth bass between 12 and 18 inches. We
caught these fish on Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, suspending
jerkbaits, lipless crankbaits, shallow running crankbaits, swimbaits, and
topwater plugs. They were caught around main lake points, along the
dam areas, underwater humps, flats next to deep water, back in
coves, and edges of creek channels. The surface water temperature is
in the 60s.

May 12-16
I guided on Red Willow Reservoir on all five days. My clients and I
caught good numbers of wipers between 15 and 23.75 inches, walleyes
between 14.75 and 24 inches, white bass up to 13 inches, a Master
Angler northern pike that weighted a little over 10 lbs, plus
smaller northern pike between 18 and 32 inches, and largemouth bass
between 12 and 18 inches. We caught these fish on Lytle's Secret
Tail Spinners, suspending jerkbaits, shallow running crankbaits,
Reelbait Flasher Jigs with a 4-inch swimbait, and topwater plugs.
They were caught around main lake points, underwater humps, edges of
creek channel, flats next to deep water, back in coves, and along
the dam areas. The surface temperature averaged in the upper 50 at
the beginning of the week, and by the end of the week it was in the
low 60s.

May 7-9
I guided on Red Willow Reservoir all three days. My clients and I
caught good numbers of wipers between 13 and 23 inches, white bass
up to 14 inches, walleyes between 14.75 and 24 inches, northern pike
between 20 and 32 inches, largemouth bass up to 16 inches, a few
smallmouth bass up to 14 inches and a channel catfish that was about
20 inches long. We caught these fish on Lytle's Secret Tail
Spinners, suspending jerkbaits, and shallow running crankbaits
around main lake points, flats next to deep water, underwater humps,
edges of creek channels, back in coves and along the dam areas. The
surface water temperature is in the upper 50s, and the water clarity
on the main lake is very clear.
May 5
I guided on Red Willow Reservoir and caught a Master Angler northern
pike at 36 inches long and weighing a little over 13 pounds. We also
caught smaller northern pike, good numbers of wipers between 13 and
23 inches, white bass up to 13 inches, a walleye and a largemouth
bass around 16 inches long. We caught these fish on a Lytle's Secret
Tail Spinner and a suspending jerkbait in depths of 15 feet or less
around main lake points, edges of creek channels, and flats next to
deep water. The water temperature is averaging in the mid to upper
50s on the main lake.

May 3, 4
My brother Tim, and I fished at two different private sand pit lakes
in the afternoon. We caught a Master Angler largemouth bass at 21
inches plus good numbers of smaller bass between 10 and 19.75
inches. We caught these fish on a 1/2- and 3/4-oz. football jig with
a Chompers twin tail plastic trailer. My brother used a Strike King
Bitsy Bug jig with plastic trailers, and I also caught a few on a
chatterbait. The fish were caught around points, edges of deep
flats, weed beds and underwater brush piles in depths of 20 feet or
less.

April 30, May 1
I
guided the same clients both days at Red Willow Reservoir, and we
caught three Master Angler wipers. The largest was a 30 inches long
and weighted a little over 17 pounds. We also caught 28-incher at
13.50 pounds, and a 26-incher near 10 pounds. We caught good numbers
of smaller wipers between 13 and 23 inches, northern pike up to 28
inches, white bass up to 12 inches, and a few smallmouth and
largemouth bass up to 16 inches. We caught these fish on Lytle's
Secret Tail Spinners, suspending jerkbaits and lipless crankbaits
around main lake points, edges of creek channels, flats next to deep
water, along the dam areas, mouths of coves and back in coves. The
surface water temperature is averaging in the mid to upper 50s, and
the water clarity is very clear.
