July 31

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir and my clients and I caught three Master Angler fish including two channel catfish at 32.25 and 30.25 inches, and a 37.50-inch northern pike. We also caught good numbers of smaller catfish between 2 and 9 pounds, northern pike up to 32 inches, wipers up to 22 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, and 12 walleye between 15 and 18 inches. These fish were caught on a Carolina rig using gizzard shad, topwater plugs, Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, and a 5.50-inch flutter spoon around main lake points, underwater islands, underwater road beds, flats next to deep water, and edges of creek channel bends in depths of 35 feet or less. The surface water temperature is in the lower 80s.

July 26-28

I guided the same clients on all three days at Red Willow Reservoir. We caught 13 Master Angler fish including 10 wipers between 24.50 and 30 inches, two northern pike at 10.50 and 10.25 pounds, and a 32-inch channel catfish. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 15 and 23.50 inches, northern pike between 28 and 35 inches, channel catfish between 3 and 9 pounds, white bass up to 14 inches, and a few largemouth bass. We caught these fish on a Carolina rig using live bait, Lytle Secret Tail Spinners, topwater plugs, and a Strike King 5.50-inch Sexy Spoon around main lake points, edges of flats next to deep water, underwater islands, edges of creek channels, and in coves in depth of 30 feet or less. The surface water temperature is in the 80s.

July 25

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir. My clients and I caught two Master Angler fish including a 28.50-inch walleye, and a 36.50-inch northern pike. We also caught smaller walleyes between 16 and 20 inches, northern pike between 28 and 34 inches, wipers between 15 and 23.50 inches, and white bass up to 14 inches. These fish were caught around main lake points, underwater islands, flats next to deep water, edges of creek channels, and coves using topwater plugs, a Carolina Rig with shiners, Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, and 5.50-inch Flutter Spoon.

July 23-24

I fished with my chiropractor at his private sand pit lake both days. I caught a Master Angler largemouth bass at 21 inches. We also caught good numbers of smaller bass between 10 and 19.50 inches using a 5.50-inch Strike King Sexy Spoon, and plastic baits (Senko) around drop offs next to points, underwater brush piles, and edges of deep weed beds in depths of 30 feet or less.

July 15-16, 19-22

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir and my clients and I caught seven Master Angler fish including two wipers at 28.50 and 24.50 inches, two northern pike at 37 and 36.25 inches, two walleyes at 28.25 and 28 inches, and a 23.50-inch largemouth bass. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 15 and 23.50 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, northern pike between 24 and 35.50 inches, walleye between 14 and 20 inches, channel catfish up to 28 inches, largemouth bass between 10 and 18 inches, a few smallmouth bass up to 13 inches, and crappies up to 13 inches. We caught these fish around main lake points, underwater humps, flats next to deep water, edges of weed beds, coves, and along the dam areas in depths of 30 feet or less. My clients and I caught these fish on Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, Reelbait Flasher jigs with 4-inch swimbaits, topwater plugs, 5.50-inch flutter spoons, Reelbait Plane Jane Jig'n Spoons, and Carolina Rigs using livebait. The surface water temperature is in the lower 80s.

July 10, 11, 13, 14

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir, and my clients caught three Master Angler Fish including two northern pike at 13 and 10 pounds, and a 10-pound channel catfish. My clients, and I also caught good numbers of wipers between 15 and 23 inches, white bass up to 13 inches, northern pike between 24 and 34 inches, a few walleyes up to 18 inches, crappies up to 12 inches, and a largemouth bass at 17 inches. We caught these fish around main lake points, underwater humps, flats next to deep water, and mouths of coves in depths of 30 feet or less. These fish were caught on a Carolina Rig using shiners, Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, Reelbait Flasher Jigs with a 4-inch swimbait, topwater plugs, and a 5.50-inch Strike King Sexy Spoon. The surface water temperature is in the 80s.

July 8

I fished with my chiropractor at his private sand pit lake in the afternoon. We caught largemouth bass between 10 and 19 inches around the drop off next to points, edges of deep weed beds, and underwater brush piles in depth of 25 feet or less. These bass were caught on 3/4-ounce football jig with a Strike King Rage Tail Craw, plastic worms, slow rolling a 3/4-ounce spinnerbait, and a 5.50-inch Strike King Sexy Spoon.

July 6

My brother Tim, son Jeremy, and I fished at two different private sand pit lakes. We caught two Master Angler largemouth bass at 20.50 and 20.25 inches, plus good numbers of smaller largemouth bass between 12 and 19.75 inches. We caught these bass on topwater plugs, plastic worms, 3/4-ounce football jigs with a Strike King Rage Tail Craws, and a 5.50-inch Strike King Sexy Spoon around drop offs next to points, edges of deep weed beds, and underwater brush piles in depths of 25 feet or less.

July 5

I took my two sons fishing at Red Willow Reservoir. We caught good numbers of wipers between 15 and 23 inches, and white bass up to 13 inches on topwater plugs, Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, Reelbait Flasher Jigs with 4-inch swimbaits, and a 5.50 inch Strike King Sexy Spoon. They were caught around underwater humps, main lake points, edges of deep weed beds, and willow trees, and flats next to the creek channels in depths of 25 feet or less. The surface water temperature is in the lower 80s.

July 4

My two brothers and I fished below Medicine Creek Reservoir in the spillway in the morning. We caught good numbers of largemouth bass between 14 and 19 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, wipers up to 20 inches, walleyes between 14 and 20 inches, and fresh water drum up to 20 inches. We caught fish on a buzzbait, spinnerbait, Reelbait Flasher Jig with Berkley Gulp! Minnow Grub, and a crankbait.

July 3

I fished with my chiropractor at his private sand pit lake in the morning. We caught two Master Angler largemouth bass at 22 and 21 inches. We also caught good numbers of smaller largemouth bass between 10 and 19 inches using deep diving crankbaits, 3/4-ounce football jigs with a Strike King Rage Tail Craw, plastic worms and slow rolling a 3/4-ounce spinnerbait. The bass were caught around the drop off next to points, edges of deep weed beds, and underwater brush piles in depths of 20 feet or less.

July 1

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir, and my client and I caught two Master Angler fish including a 28.50-inch wiper and a 10-pound northern pike. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 15 and 23 inches, white bass between 9 and 14 inches, a 17-inch walleye, and a 20-inch channel catfish. We caught these fish on a Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, Reelbait Flasher Jig with a 4-inch swimbait, topwater plugs, and spoons. The fish were caught around underwater humps, main lake points, flats next to the creek channels, and mouths of coves in depths of 35 feet or less. The surface water temperature is averaging around 80 degrees.
