August 30-31

I guide on Red Willow Reservoir both days and one of my clients caught a Master Angler channel catfish at 35 inches. My clients and I caught smaller catfish between 20 and 28 inches, wipers between 12 and 23 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, a few walleyes up to 17 inches, and a few freshwater drum. We caught these fish around underwater humps, road beds, and edges of a creek channel bend in depths of 40 feet or less using a Carolina rig with gizzard shad and shiners, Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, jigging spoons, and 4- and 5-inch Talon Series Big Dandy Custom Lake Fork Spoons.

August 29

I guided on Swanson Reservoir and my clients and I caught two Master Angler wipers at 27 and 25 inches. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 12 and 23 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, a few freshwater drum, and a small walleye. These fish were caught on a Carolina rig using shiners, Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, jigging spoons, and 4- and 5-inch Talon Series Big Dandy Custom Lake Fork Flutter Spoons around a underwater humps and road beds in depths of 28 feet or less.

August 28

I guided two of my friends at Red Willow Reservoir. We caught good numbers of wipers up to 23 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, a few freshwater drum, a small walleye and a crappie using a Carolina rig with gizzard shad, jigging spoons, Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, and 4- and 5-inch Talon Series Big Dandy Custom Lake Fork Flutter Spoons. We caught these fish around main lake points, underwater humps, edges of creek channel bends, and underwater road beds in depths of 35 feet or less. The surface water temperature is in the upper 70s.

August 26-27

I fished at a private sandpit lake in the mid afternoon on both days for a few hours. I caught over 20 largemouth bass between 13 and 19 inches using a 5-inch Talon Series Big Dandy Custom Lake Fork Flutter Spoon around the drop off next to points, edges of deep weed beds, and underwater brush piles in depths of 25 feet or less.

August 20-22

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir. My clients and I caught good numbers of wipers between 15 and 23 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, a few channel catfish up to 28 inches, and some freshwater drum. We caught these fish around underwater humps, roadbeds, main lake points, and a deep cove in depths of 30 feet or less. We caught these fish on a Carolina rig using gizzard shad, 3/4-, 1-, and 1 1/2-ounce Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, 1-ounce jigging spoons, and 5-inch flutter spoons. The surface water temperature is in the upper 70s.

August 19

A friend and I went fishing at Red Willow Reservoir in the the afternoon. We caught wipers up to 22 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, and two channel catfish at 29 and 28 inches. We caught these fish on Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, jigging spoons, and 5-inch flutter spoons around main lake points, underwater humps, and roadbeds in depths of 35 feet or less.

August 10

I guided on Medicine Creek Reservoir. My clients and I caught good numbers of white bass up to 15 inches, wipers between 20 and 23 inches, channel catfish up to 27 inches, and freshwater drum up to 3 pounds. We caught these fish on a Carolina rig using gizzard shad, Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, jigging spoons, and a 5-inch flutter spoon around underwater humps, and creek channel edges in depths of 40 feet or less.

August 9

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir and my clients and I caught good numbers of wipers up to 23 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, walleyes up to 18 inches, channel catfish up to 27 inches, a few small largemouth bass, and a nice crappie about 12 inches. These fish were caught around main lake points, underwater humps, roadbeds, and creek channel edges in depths of 40 feet or less on a Carolina rig using gizzard shad, Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, jigging spoons, 5-inch flutter spoon, and topwater plugs.

August 8

I guided on Swanson Reservoir in the morning and at Red Willow Reservoir in the afternoon. My clients and I caught two Master Angler wipers at 27 and 26 inches. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 15 and 23 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, channel catfish up to 28 inches, walleyes between 15 and 20 inches, and a few fresh water drum. These fish were caught on a Carolina rig using live bait, Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, jigging spoons, and a 5-inch flutter spoon around main lake points, underwater humps, roadbeds, and creek channel edges in depths of 40 feet or less.

August 4-5

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir both days. My clients and I caught good numbers of white bass up to 14 inches, wipers up to 23 inches, walleyes up to 18 inches, channel catfish up to 28 inches, and a few largemouth bass. We caught these fish around main lake points, underwater humps, creek channel ledges, the mouth of a deep cove, and roadbeds in depths of 40 feet or less. They were caught on a Carolina rig using gizzard shad and shiners, Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, topwater plugs, and a 5-inch flutter spoon. The surface water temperature is in the lower 80s.

August 3

My two brothers, nephew, and I fished below Medicine Creek Reservoir in the spillway and the creek. We caught good numbers of wipers between 15 and 23 inches, white bass up to 13 inches, walleyes between 14 and 25 inches, a few channel catfish, largemouth bass, northern pike, and freshwater drum. We caught the fish on a Carolina rig using livebait, a Reelbait Flasher jig with livebait, Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, and a flutter spoon.

August 1-2

I guided on Red Willow both days and my clients and I caught three Master Angler northern pike (two at 37 inches, and one at 36.25 inches). We also caught good numbers of smaller northern pike between 28 and 35.50 inches, walleyes between 15 and 27.25 inches, channel catfish between 2 and 9.50 pounds, wipers between 15 and 23.50 inches, and white bass up to 14 inches. We caught these fish around main lake points, underwater humps, edges of creek channel bends, and flats next to deep water in depths of 35 feet or less. They were caught on a Carolina rig using gizzard shad, Lytle's Secret Tail Spinners, topwater plugs, and a 5.50-inch flutter spoon. The surface water temperature is in the lower 80s.
