I took my friend, his wife, and their 3 1/2-years-old daughter fishing at a private sand pit lake. We caught largemouth bass between 12 and 18.50 inches including a 21-inch Master Angler bass. We caught these fish on a Reelbait Flasher Jig with plastic worm or a tubebait, and a Dropshot Rig using plastic worm or a tubebait around points, edges of weed beds, and brush piles. Their daughter also caught her fish fish, a small bluegill. She also caught good numbers of bluegills between 5 and 8 inches using a small pieces of Berkley Gulp! nightcrawler on a small #10 hook with a split shot.

I took my friend fishing at Red Willow Reservoir in the afternoon. We caught wipers, white bass, walleyes, and a northern pike around main lake points, underwater islands, and back in a large cove using a Lytle Secret Tail Spinner, and a ReelBait Flasher Jig with a Berkley 3-inch Minnow Powerbait. The surface water temperature is averaging around 67 degrees.

My two brothers and I went fished at two different private sand pits in the afternoon. I caught a nice Master Angler crappie at 16 inches. I guided on Red Willow Reservoir and one of my clients caught a nice Master Angler northern pike measuring 37 inches. My clients and I also caught smaller pike up to 29 inches, good numbers of smaller wipers, white bass, and a few small walleyes. We caught these fish on a spinnerbait, chatterbait, Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, Reelbait Flasher jig with Berkley Powerbait 3-inch minnow, and a Carolina rig using a shiner around main lake points, underwater road beds, and back in a large cove. The key to catching these fish was finding cleaner water clarity and find the baitfish in the area. The surface water temperature dropped to the mid 60s due to the cooler weather we had the last few days.

June 1

My clients and I fished at Red Willow Reservoir in the morning. We caught smaller wipers and white bass around main lake points and shallow flats with flooded willow trees where the water clarity was a little cleaner. We used a Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, topwater plug, rattling lipless crankbait, and a Carolina Rig with a shiner. The strong wind with rain and cooler weather forced off the lake before noon.

In the afternoon, my clients and I went fished at a private sand pit after the rain stopped. We caught largemouth bass between 10 and 19 inches including a largemouth over six pounds that my client lost by the boat when it jumped out of the water and threw the hook. I also caught a nice Master Angler 16-inch crappie that weighted about 2.50 pounds. We caught these fish on a Reelbait Flasher Jig with Berkley Gulp! or a Powerbait worm, and a drop shot rig using 4-inch Powerbait worm around points and edges of deep weed beds.
