I fished at two different private sand pit lakes in the afternoon. I
caught largemouth bass between 10 and 17 inches, crappies between 8
and 14 inches, and a Master Angler flathead catfish at 35 inches. I
caught these fish on a 1/4- and 3/4-ounce Lytle's Secret Tail
Spinner in Glow Tiger around deep points, underwater brush piles,
and edges of deep weed beds in depths of 30 feet or less.
October 21-25
I fished at four different private sand pit lakes in the afternoon.
I caught largemouth bass up to 19 inches, a few crappies up to 14
inches, bluegills up to 9 inches, and an 18.50-inch walleye. I
caught these fish on a 1/4- and 3/4-ounce Lytle's Secret Tail
Spinner around deep points, underwater brush piles, and edges of
deep weed beds in depths of 30 feet or less.
October 20
I took my brother, Rod, and Mat Vincent (Editor of Bass Times) and
his son, Jonah, fishing at Enders Reservoir and Swanson Reservoir.
We caught white bass using the 1/4- and 3/4-ounce Lytle's Secret
Tail Spinner, and a few on jigging spoon around main lake points and
humps in depths of 20 feet or less. The surface water temperature is
in the lower 50s.
October 19
I went fishing at two different private sand pit
lakes in the afternoon. I caught a Master Angler largemouth bass at
21 inches, plus smaller largemouth bass between 10 and 17 inches, a
nice 27-inch walleye, and few bluegill up to 9 inches. These fish
were caught on a 1/4- and 3/4-ounce Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner,
suspending jerkbait, and jig and 4-inch plastic twin tail grub combo
around deep points, underwater brush piles, and edges of deep weed
beds in depth of 25 feet or less. The water clarity on these sand
pit lakes is clear with a visibility of five feet or more.
October 16-17
I went fishing at four different private sand pit lakes in the
afternoon. I caught good numbers of largemouth bass between 10
and 18 inches, and a few nice crappies up to 15 inches, using
a
1/4- and 3/4-ounce Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner. These fish were
caught around deep points, underwater brush piles, and edges of
weed beds in depths of 25 feet or less. The water clarity on these
sand pit lakes is clear with a visibility of five feet or more.
October 15
I went fishing in the afternoon at Red Willow Reservoir. I caught
white bass, small wipers, two largemouth bass, and a smallmouth
bass. I caught these fish on a Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, and a
jig and plastic craw combo around humps, standing timbers back in a
cove, brush piles, and along the dam area in depths of 10 feet or
less. The surface water temperature is in the mid 50s and the water
clarity is extremely muddy with a visibility of three inches or
less.
October 8
I went fishing in the late afternoon at a private sand pit lake. I
caught a nice 21.50-inch Master Angler largemouth bass, plus over 20
other largemouth bass between 10 and 18 inches, and two nice
crappies at 14 and 11 inches. I caught these fish on a 3/4-ounce
Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner in Blue Shad around deep points, edges
of deep weed beds, and underwater brush piles in depths of 25 feet
or less. The water clarity on this sand pit lake is clear with a
visibility of six feet.
October 7
I guided on Enders Reservoir and my clients and I caught good
numbers of white bass up to 15 inches, wipers up to 20 inches, and a
smallmouth bass. They were caught around underwater humps, main lake
points, and next to the dam area using a 3/4- and 1-ounce Lytle's
Secret Tail Spinner. A few fish came on a medium diving crankbait.
The surface water temperature is in the low 60s.
October 4-6
I fished at four different private sand pit lakes in the afternoon.
I caught good numbers of largemouth bass up to 18 inches, crappies
up to 14 inches, and a few nice yellow perch. They were caught on
3/4- and 1-ounce Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, and a Reelbait Flasher
Jig with Berkley Powerbait 3-inch Minnow around deep points, edges
of weed beds, and underwater brush piles.
October 2, 3
I went fishing at three different private sand pit lakes in the
afternoon. I caught a nice 21-inch Master Angler largemouth bass,
plus good numbers of smaller largemouth bass up to 18 inches, a few
crappies, yellow perch, and a 25-inch channel catfish. These fish
were caught on a 3/4- and 1-ounce Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner around
deep points, edges of weed beds, and underwater brush piles.
