NOVEMBER-DECEMBER 2006

November 21, 22

I went fishing at two different private sand pit lakes in the afternoon. I caught a nice Master Angler crappie at 17 inches, plus smaller crappies, a few largemouth bass up to 15 inches, and an 8-inch bluegill. I caught these fish on a drop shot rig with a Tiny Shad Assassin and a 1/8-ounce Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner on the tag end of the line, and a 1/16-ounce jig head with a Tiny Shad Assassin. They were caught around deep points, edges of deep weed beds, and underwater brush piles in depths of 25 feet or less.

I went fishing in the afternoon at Barnett Park Ponds (South of McCook). I caught good numbers of rainbow trout between 10 and 20 inches, including a Master Angler at 23 inches. I caught these trout using a drop-shot rig with a Tiny Shad Assassin and a 1/8- and 1/4-ounce Lytle's Secret Tailspinner on the tag end of the line. I also caught fish on a 1/16-ounce jig head with a Tiny Shad Assassin.

A friend and I went fishing at Swanson Reservoir in the afternoon. We caught channel catfish up to 27.50 inches, freshwater drum up to 16 inches, a 17-inch walleye, and a 14-inch white bass. We caught these fish on a 1/4- and 3/4-ounce Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, and 3/4- and 1-ounce jigging spoon in depths of 22 to 30 feet around an island, a road bed, and a dike near the dam area.
