APRIL 2006

April 30

My brother Tim and I went fishing at two different private sand pit lakes in the afternoon. I caught a nice 22-inch largemouth bass on a 4-inch Senko next to a laydown tree. We also caught good numbers of smaller largemouth bass between 10 and 19 inches, crappies between 9 and 14 inches, and bluegill up to a little under a pound. We caught these fish using a Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, plastic baits, and a ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig with a Berkley Gulp! worm and minnow grub around points, flats next to deep water, edges of weed beds and cattails, and next to brush piles.

April 27

I took my chiropractor fishing at Red Willow Reservoir in the afternoon. We caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 15 and 18 inches, white bass up to 13 inches, and a 14-inch walleye. We caught these fish on a Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, a ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig with a Berkley Gulp! 3-inch Minnow Grub, and a suspending jerkbait around main lake points and flats next to deep water. The surface water temperature is in the upper 50s to low 60s, and the water clarity is averaging around 12 inches.
