July 30, 31

I took my friend from Colorado fishing both days at Swanson and Red Willow Reservoirs. We caught good numbers of white bass up to 14 inches, wipers up to 20 inches, channel catfish up to 22 inches, and a few small walleyes. We caught most of these fish on a Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, and a few on a Carolina rig using gizzard shad around underwater humps, main lake points, and next to underwater road beds. Most of these fish were caught in depths of 18 to 30 feet of water.

July 28

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir where my 8-year-old client caught a 28-inch wiper. We also caught smaller wipers, white bass, walleyes, and channel catfish around underwater humps, road beds, and main lake points in depths of 15 to 28 feet. We caught these fish on a Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, and a Carolina rig with a shiner and gizzard shad. The surface water temperature is in the upper 70s with the water clarity about 20 to 24 inches. Click to view photos from this trip.

July 27

I guided on Swanson Reservoir where my 15-year-old client caught a 26-inch Master Angler wiper. We also caught smaller wipers between 14 and 21 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, and channel catfish between 11 and 20 inches. We caught these fish on a Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, a ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig with a Berkley Gulp! 3-inch Minnow Grub, and a Carolina rig using gizzard shad. July 25

I guided on Swanson Reservoir and we caught nine Master Angler wipers at 29, 28 (2), 27.50, 27, 25.50, 25 (2) and 24 inches. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 14 and 22.50 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, and channel catfish between 10 and 20 inches. July 23

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir and the strong wind made it a little tougher fishing today. My client caught a Master Angler wiper at 25.50-inch, we also caught smaller wipers between 13 and 20 inches, white bass up to 13 inches, channel catfish between 12 and 26 inches, freshwater drum up to 14 inches, a few crappies up to 13 inches, and a small perch. We caught these fish using a Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, and a Carolina rig with shiners fished around underwater humps and the ends of main lake points next to deep water. July 22

I guided on Swanson Reservoir in the morning and Red Willow in the afternoon. We caught five Master Angler wipers at 28 (3), 27, and 26 inches. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 13 and 23 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, channel catfish between 12 and 26 inches, and a few 14-inch walleyes. We caught these fish around underwater humps, road beds, and ends of main lake points using a Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, and Carolina and dropshot rigs with live gizzard shad. July 21

I guided today at Red Willow Reservoir and we caught four Master Angler wipers at 29, 28, 27, and 25 inches. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 13 and 21 inches, white bass up to 13 inches, channel catfish between 14 and 27 inches, and a few walleyes. We caught these fish on a Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, and a Carolina rig with a shiner around underwater humps and the ends of main lake points in depths of 18 to 28 feet. July 20

I guided at Red Willow Reservoir and we caught wipers, white bass, walleyes, channel catfish, a few crappies, and a perch. We caught these fish around underwater humps and main lake points in depths of 18 to 28 feet using a Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, Carolina and dropshot rigs with shiners and gizzard shads. The surface water temperature was in the mid 80s by late afternoon.

July 19

I guided today on Swanson Reservoir and my client caught a Master Angler wiper at 26 inches. We also caught good numbers of wipers between 14 and 20 inches, and white bass up to 13.50 inches. July 18

My brother Rod and I went fishing at Red Willow Reservoir in the afternoon. I caught three Master Angler wipers at 28, 27, and 26.50 inches. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 14 and 21 inches, white bass up to 12 inches, and a walleye. We caught these fish on a Lytle's Secret Tail Spinner, and my brother caught some on the ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig with a Berkley Gulp! 3-inch Minnow Grub. We fished these lures around deep underwater humps in depths of 18 to 26 feet of water. July 16, 17

I guided an 11-year-old boy and his mother both days at a private sandpit lake. We caught five Master Angler fish including three largemouth bass (21, 20.50 and 20.50 inches), and two bluegills (11.25 and 11 inches). We also caught good numbers of smaller bass between 8 and 18 inches, bluegills between 6 and 9 inches, plus a few crappies up to 10 inches. We caught these fish on a dropshot rig and a Texas rig with a plastic worm and crawdad, a jig and plastic craw, a buzzbait, a spinnerbait, and a crankbait. July 15

July 14

We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 14 and 21 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, and small channel catfish. July 13

My brother Tim and I went fishing at a private sandpit in the evening for a few hours. We caught largemouth bass between 13 and 19 inches around edges of deep weed beds next to points, and an underwater island. I caught fish on a Zara Spook topwater plug and a Strike King Rattling Pro Model Jig with a 3X Plastic Chunk. My brother used a jig head with 6-inch Berkley Gulp! Night Crawler.

July 12

I guided on Swanson Reservoir and we caught two Master Angler wiper at 26.50 and 25 inches. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 14 and 22 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, and a few small channel catfish. July 11

July 10

July 9

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir and we caught a Master Angler wiper at 27 inches. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers, white bass, walleyes, a few crappies, and a channel catfish at approximately 24 inches. July 8

I took my brother Rod fishing at Red Willow Reservoir in the afternoon for a few hours. We caught wipers, walleyes, and white bass on a Lytle's Secret Lure around main lake points and underwater humps.

July 7

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir in the afternoon.  We caught six Master Angler fish including five wipers at 29.50, 29, 28, and 27 (2) inches, plus a 31.50-inch channel catfish. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers, white bass, channel catfish, and walleyes. We caught these fish using a Lytle's Secret Lure, and a Carolina rig with a large golden shiner around underwater humps, and the tip of main lake points that drop off to deep water. July 6

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir and we caught four Master Angler fish including two wipers at 28 and 27 inches, a 29.50-inch  walleye, and a 31.50-inch channel catfish. We also caught smaller wipers between 14 to 20 inches, white bass up to 12 inches, walleyes between 10 and 17 inches, a few channel catfish up to 26 inches, and crappies up to 11 inches. July 5

I took my mother (Joan) and older brother (Rod) fishing at Swanson Reservoir in the afternoon. We caught 10 Master Angler wipers (two 28, two 27.50, three 27, 26, and two 25 inches), plus good numbers of smaller wipers between 15 and 22 inches, and white bass up to 14 inches. We caught these fish on a Lytle's Secret Lure, and a ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig with a Berkley Gulp! 4-inch Minnow Grub around underwater humps, points, and next to an underwater road bed near deep water. July 4

I took my two brother fishing at Red Willow Reservoir and we caught two Master Angler fish including a 31-inch wiper and a 30-inch walleye. We also caught walleye between 12 and 27 inches, smaller wipers and white bass, a 28-inch northern pike, and a few channel catfish. We caught these fish around main lake points, underwater humps, and next to a road bed near deep water. They were caught on a Lytle's Secret Lure, a ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig with a Berkley Gulp! 4-inch Minnow Grub, and a Walleye Flasher Jig with live bait (waterdogs). July 2, 3

My two brothers and I fished at a private sand pit lake. We caught good numbers of largemouth bass between 10 and 19 inches, crappies up to 14 inches, bluegills up to 10 inches, two walleye at 24 and 15 inches and a 28-inch channel catfish.. These fish were caught on Lytle's Secret Lure, ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig with Berkley Gulp! crawler and minnow grub, a buzzbait, a Chugbug, and a Texas rigged plastic worm. The fish were caught around edges of deep weed beds and deep brush piles next to points.
