June 30
I guided the same group from yesterday at Swanson
Lake again today and we caught 13 Master Angler wipers between 24
and 29 inches and a Master Angler channel catfish at 34 inches. We
also caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 10 and 23.50
inches, and white bass up to 13 inches. These fish were caught on a
Cabela's Rig Saver Kit using live bait, a Cabela's Livin' Eye 6-inch
Paddletail, jigging spoons, crankbaits, and a ReelBait Walleye
Flasher Jig-Cabela's Recoil Grub combo. They were caught around
underwater humps, points, and next to a roadbed. The surface water
temperature is in the lower 70s.

June 29
I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught 30 Master
Angler wipers between 24 and 29 inches, and one Master Angler
channel catfish at 35 inches. We also caught smaller wipers between
14 and 23.75 inches, and white bass up to 13 inches. These fish were
caught on a Cabela's Rig Saver Kit using live bait around underwater
humps, points, and next to a roadbeds. The surface water temperature
is in the upper 60s in the morning and by late afternoon in the
lower 70s.

June 28
I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught 13 Master
Angler wipers between 24 and 27.50 inches, plus smaller wipers
between 11 and 19 inches, and white bass up to 13 inches. They were
caught around underwater humps, points, and next to a roadbed using
a Cabela's Rig Saver Kit with live bait and a Cabela's Livin' Eye
6-inch Paddletail. The surface water temperature was in the upper
60s in the morning and the lower 70s by late afternoon.

June 27
My brother Rod and I went fishing at a private
sand pit lake in the late afternoon, and we caught good numbers of
largemouth bass between 12 and 19.50 inches and one Master Angler
bass at 21.50 inches. These fish were caught on a Wave Worm (Tiki -
Sticks), Strike King 3X Zulu, homemade spinnerbaits, and a topwater
plug (Lucky Craft - Sammy). They were caught around points and next
to deep weed beds.
June 26
I took my two brothers (Rod and
Tim) fishing at a private sand pit lake and we caught two Master
Angler fish - a 29-inche walleye and a 23-inch largemouth bass. We
also caught good numbers of largemouth bass between 11 and 19.50
inches, and six walleyes between 16 and 22 inches. They were caught
on ReelBait Walleye flasher Jig with Cabela's Recoil Grub combo,
Strike King 3X Zulu, Waves Worm, a homemade spinnerbait, and jig
head and shiner combo around points and next to a deep weed beds.
June 25
I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught seven
Master Angler wipers (29, 27, 26, two 25, 24.50 and 24.25 inches).
We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers and white bass using s
Cabela's Rig Saver Kit with live bait. These fish were caught around
underwater humps and next to a roadbed. The surface water
temperature is in the upper 60s.

June 24
I guided on Swanson Lake in the morning and Red
Willow Lake in the afternoon. We caught five Master Angler Wipers
(29, 27.50, 27, 25, and 24 inches), plus good numbers of smaller
wipers between 10 and 19 inches, white bass up to 12 inches, two
crappies at 12 and 10 inches, a few freshwater drum, and one
14.50-inch walleye. The fish were caught on a Cabela's Rig Saver Kit
using live bait around underwater humps, main lake points, and next
to a roadbed. The surface water temperature is in the upper 60s.

June 22
I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught four
Master Angler wipers, plus good numbers of smaller wipers between 10
and 18 inches, and white bass up to 12 inches. These fish were
caught on a Cabela's Rig Saver Kit using live bait, and a Carolina
Rig using a Strike King Zulu around underwater humps, points, and
next to a roadbeds. The surface water temperature is in the upper
60s.

June 21
I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught one Master
Angler wiper at 25 inches, plus good numbers of smaller wipers
between 10 and 16 inches, white bass between 9 and 12 inches, and a
few small freshwater drum. We caught these fish on a Cabela's Rig
Saver Kit using live shiners around underwater humps, points, and
next to a roadbed. The surface water temperature is in the mid 60s.

June 20
I guided on
Red Willow Lake and we caught wipers between 10 and 18 inches, white
bass up to 11 inches, and a walleye about 14 inches. The fish were
caught around main lake points and underwater humps using a Cabela's
Rig Saver Kit with a shiner, a dropshot rig using shiner and a
ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig-Cabela's Recoil Grub combo as a weight
on the tag end of the line. The surface water temperature is in the
upper 60s.
June 19
I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught 25 Master
Angler wipers between 24 and 30 inches, plus good numbers of smaller
wipers between 11 and 23.50 inches and a few white bass up to 12
inches. These fish were caught on a Cabela's Rig Saver Kit using
live bait, and a Carolina Rig using a Strike King 3X Zulu around
points, underwater humps, and next to a roadbed. The surface water
temperature is in the upper 60s.

June 18
I guided on Swanson Lake in the morning and Red
Willow Lake in the afternoon. We caught three Master Angler wipers
(29", 24.50", and 24"), plus smaller wipers between 12 and 22.50
inches, and a few white bass up to 11 inches. We caught these fish
on a Cabela's Rig Saver Kit using live bait and dropshot rig with
live bait on top and a ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig with live bait
as a weight on the tag end of the line. The fish were caught around
points and underwater humps. The surface water temperature is 70
degrees.

June 17
I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught nine
Master Angler wipers between 24 and 28 inches, plus good numbers of
smaller wipers between 11 and 23.50 inches, white bass up to 12
inches, walleye between 13 and 16 inches, an 18-inch channel
catfish, and a 12-inch crappie. These fish were caught around
underwater humps, points, and next to a roadbed using a Cabela's Rig
Saver Kit with live bait, a Carolina Rig using a Strike King 3X
Zulu, and a medium diver crankbait. The surface water temperature is
in the lower 70s.

June 16
I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught two Master
Angler wipers at 25.50 and 24.25 inches, plus good numbers of
smaller wipers between 10 and 18 inches, white bass up to 12 inches,
and a few walleyes up to 15 inches. We caught these fish on a
Cabela's Rig Saver Kit using live bait, a Carolina Rig with a Strike
King 3X Zulu, and crankbaits fished around points, underwater humps,
and along a roadbed. The surface water temperature is in the low
70s.

June 15
I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught four
Master Angler wipers ( 29.50", 28.25", 25.50", and 24.50"), plus
good numbers of smaller wipers between 12 and 23.75 inches, white
bass up to 12 inches, and walleye between 13 and 14.75 inches. They
were caught around underwater humps and next to a roadbeds using a
Cabela's Rig Saver Kit with live bait, crankbaits, a dropshot rig
with live bait and a ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig-Cabela's Recoil
Grub combo on the tag end of the line. The surface water temperature
is in the 70s.

June 14
I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught 18 Master Angler wipers from
24.50 to 29 inches, plus good numbers of smaller wipers between 11
and 23 inches, white bass up to 11 inches, two walleyes at 22 and 20
inches, and one crappie at 13 inches. We caught these fish around
humps, points, and next to a underwater roadbeds. They were caught
on a Cabela's Rig Saver Kit using live bait, crankbaits, a dropshot
rig with live bait and a ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig-Cabela's
Recoil Grub combo on the tag end, and a Carolina Rig using a Strike King 3X Zulu.
The surface water temperature is in the mid 70s.

June 13
I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught two Master
Angler wipers at 28 and 27 inches, plus good numbers of smaller
wipers between 11 and 23 inches, white bass up to 12 inches, and
five walleyes between 14 and 24 inches. These fish were caught on a
Cabela's Rig Saver Kit using live bait, crankbaits, and a ReelBait
Walleye Flasher Jig-Cabela's Recoil Grub combo around humps, points,
and next to a roadbeds. The surface water temperature is in the mid
70s.

June 12
I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught 13 Master
Angler wipers between 24 and 28.50 inches. We also caught good
numbers of smaller wipers between 12 and 23 inches, white bass up to
12 inches, and a few walleyes up to 20 inches. These fish were
caught around main lake points, humps, and next to a roadbeds on
Cabela's Rig Saver Kit using live bait.

June 11
I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught 18 Master
Angler wipers between 24 and 28 inches, plus good numbers of smaller
wipers between 12 and 23.50 inches, a few white bass up to 12
inches, and one walleye about 16 inches. The fish were caught on a
Cabela's Rig Saver Kit using live bait, and a Carolina Rig using s
Strike King 3X Zulu around underwater humps, roadbeds, and main lake
points. The surface water temperature is in the mid 70s.

June 9
I took Al Patterson (owner of ReelBait
Company), Frank Staskiewicz, Jr. (my webmaster and outdoors writer),
and Frank's nephew fishing at Medicine Creek. The fishing was a
little tougher due to a severe algae bloom, plus a severe storm that
came though the night before. We caught five keeper walleye between
15 and 18 inches, plus good numbers of smaller walleyes, and a
few channel catfish and a white bass. Most of these fish were caught
on an underwater hump next to a creek channel, and a few came from
weed beds on main lake points. The fish were caught on a ReelBait
Walleye Flasher Jig with a Cabela's Recoil Grub or Berkley Gulp!
Nightcrawler trailer, and a dropshot rig using a Berkley Gulp!
Nightcrawler on top and a ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig-Cabela's
Recoil grub combo as a weight on the tag end of the line. The
surface water temperature is in the lower 70s.
June 8
I guided on Red Willow Lake and we
caught good numbers of walleye up to 17 inches, wipers up to 18
inches, and one northern pike at 32 inches. These fish were caught
around main lake points and humps using a ReelBait Walleye Flasher
Jig-Cabela's Recoil Grub combo, crankbaits, and a Cabela's Rig Saver
Kit using a live shiner. The surface water temperature is in the
lower 70s.
June 7
I took Larry Porter (Omaha World Heard
Outdoor Writer), Daryl Bauer (NGPC Lake and Reservoirs Program
Manager), and Virgil Gosch (NGPC Conservation Officer) fishing at
Medicine Creek Reservoir. The wind (35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph)
made the fishing tough today, but we did catch nine keeper walleyes
between 15 and 18 inches, plus smaller walleye between 6 and 14.50
inches, a few white bass, smaller wiper, crappies, drum, and channel
catfish. These fish were caught around main lake points and
secondary points in a cove using a ReelBait Walleye Flasher
Jig-Cabela's Recoil grub, and medium diver crankbaits. The surface
water temperature is in the lower 70s.
June 5, 6
I guided the same clients both days at
Red Willow Lake (June 5) and Medicine Creek Lake (June 6). We caught
good numbers of walleyes between 15 and 22 inches, wipers between 12
and 18 inches, white bass up to 12 inches, a few crappies, channel
catfish, drum, and one perch. They were caught around main lake
points and humps using a ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig with a
Cabela's Recoil Grub or Berkley Gulp!, a dropshot rig using a shiner
or nightcrawler with a Walleye Flasher Jig as a weight on the tag
end of the line, a Cabela's Rig Saver Kit with a shiner, and
crankbaits.
June 4
I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught nine
Master Angler wipers at 30, 27, 26.50, 26 (2), 25 (2), 24.50, and 24
inches. We also caught smaller wipers between 13 and 22.50 inches,
and a few white bass. These fish were caught on live bait, a
ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig-Cabela's Recoil Grub combo, and a
lipless crankbait. They were caught next to a underwater road bed,
and an underwater dike next to the river channel. The surface water
temperature is in the upper 60s.

June 3
I guided on Medicine Creek (Harry Strunk
Lake) and we caught good numbers of walleyes up to 20 inches, wipers
up to 18 inches, white bass up to 13 inches, and a few freshwater
drum and crappies. We caught these fish around main lake points
using a ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig-Cabela's Recoil Grub combo, a
Walleye Flasher Jig with a Berkley Gulp! Crawler or a Berkley Bungee
Leech. The surface water temperature ranged from the upper 60s in
the morning to the lower 70s by late afternoon.
June 1, 2
I guided the same client both days at Swanson
Lake in the morning and Red Willow Lake in the late afternoon. We
caught nine Master Angler fish including eight wipers at 28, 27.50,
26, 25 (2), 24.50, and 24 (2) inches, plus one flathead catfish at
40 inches. We also caught smaller wipers, white bass up to 11
inches, a channel catfish at 27 inches, and a 19.50-inch freshwater
drum. We caught these fish on a ReelBait Walleye Flasher
Jig-Cabela's Recoil Grub combo, a Strike King 3X Zula, crankbaits,
and live bait. They were caught around main lake points, humps, and
along the dam areas.
