August 31

I went fishing at Red Willow Lake for a few hours in the afternoon to experiment with my homemade lures. I caught one Master Angler wiper at 27.50 inches, plus good numbers of smaller wipers and white bass, and one small walleye. These fish were caught around underwater humps and along a roadbeds next to the creek channel. The surface water temperature is in the mid 70s. Click to view photos from this trip.

August 29

My brother Tim and I went fish at Medicine Creek Lake in the afternoon. We caught wipers up to 20 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, crappies up to 12 inches, and one flathead catfish at 24 inches. We fished with our new homemade lures. The fish were caught around underwater humps, main lake points, and along the dam. The surface water temperature is in the mid 70s.

August 28

I guided at Red Willow Lake and we caught one Master Angler wiper at 24.25 inches, plus good numbers of smaller wipers between 10 and 18 inches, white bass up to 13 inches, one crappie at 12 inches, and a 15-inch walleye. We caught these fish on my homemade lures, and drop shot rigs and Carolina rigs with live gizzard shad. They were caught around underwater humps and a roadbeds next to deep water. August 27

I went to Red Willow Lake for a few hours in the afternoon to experiment with my homemade lures. I caught one Master Angler wiper at 26 inches, plus good numbers of smaller wipers between 12 and 22 inches, white bass up to 13 inches, and one walleye at 16 inches. These fish were caught around underwater humps, main lake points, and underwater roadbeds next to deep water. The surface water temperature is in the lower 70s.

August 26

My brother Rod and I guided a group today at Red Willow Lake. We caught one Master Angler wiper at 27 inches, plus good numbers of smaller wipers between 12 and 22 inches, and white bass up to 12 inches. They were caught around main lake points and underwater humps using our homemade lures, and a Carolina rig with live gizzard shad. The surface water temperature is in the mid 70s. August 24

I went fishing for a few hours in the afternoon at Red Willow Lake to try out my new homemade lures. I caught good numbers of wipers between 11 and 22 inches, and white bass up to 13 inches, around underwater humps and main lake points next to the creek channels. The surface water temperature is in the mid 70s.

August 22

I took a friend fishing in the afternoon at Red Willow Lake. We caught one Master Angler wiper at 27 inches, plus good numbers of smaller wipers and white bass. We caught them on my homemade lures around underwater humps and points next to the creek channels. The surface water temperature is in the lower 70s.

August 14

I guided the same clients from yesterday on Red Willow Lake, and we caught six Master Angler fish including four wipers between 24.50 and 30 inches, a 29-inch walleye, and a 30-inch channel catfish. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 11 and 23.50 inches, white bass up to 12 inches, channel catfish between 20 and 27 inches, and a few smaller walleye at 15 inches. The fish were caught around underwater humps, main lake points, and next to a deep roadbed using my homemade lures and a Carolina rig with live gizzard shad. August 13

I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught seven Master Angler wipers between 25 and 30 inches, plus smaller wipers between 12 and 23.50 inches, white bass up to 13 inches, a 26-inch walleye, and a few channel catfish. We caught these fish on my new homemade lures and a Carolina rig using live gizzard shad around underwater humps and next to a roadbeds. The surface water temperature is in the lower 70s. August 12

I guided on Swanson Lake in the morning and Red Willow Lake in the afternoon. We caught four Master Angler wipers at 30.50, 29, 27, and 24 inches, plus good numbers of smaller wipers between 10 and 23 inches, white bass up to 12 inches, a few small walleye, and one crappie. We caught these fish on my homemade lures and a Carolina Rig with live gizzard shad around underwater humps, main lake points, and next to an underwater roadbeds. August 11

We caught these fish on Carolina rigs with live gizzard shad, crankbaits, and homemade spinnerbaits and tailspinners around underwater humps, points, and next to a roadbed. August 8

My brother Rod and I went fishing to try out our new homemade lures. We fished at Swanson Lake from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., then we went to Red Willow Lake from 5:00 p.m. until dark We caught three Master Angler fish including two wipers at 28 and  27 inches, and a 29-inch walleye. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers and white bass. The fish were caught around underwater humps, main lake points, and next to an underwater roadbed. We caught three Master Angler wipers measuring 28, 26.50 and 26 inches. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers and white bass around underwater humps next to the creek channel. The surface water temperature is in the mid 70s.

August 5

I took a friend fishing at Swanson Lake in the afternoon, and we caught seven Master Angler wipers between 24.50 and 28.50 inches. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 11 and 23.50 inches and white bass up to 13 inches. These fish were caught around a road bed next to deep water on medium and deep diving crankbaits, lipless crankbaits, homemade tailspinners and spinnerbaits, and a ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig-Zoom Super Fluke JR. combo. August 3

I took a friend fishing today and we caught three Master Angler wipers at 31, 26, and 25 inches. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers and white bass. We caught these fish on crankbaits, homemade tailspinners and spinnerbaits, lipless crankbaits, Lytle Glitter Spoons, and ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jigs-Zoom Super Fluke Combo. August 2

I guided on Swanson Lake and we caught six Master Angler wipers between 24 and 28 inches. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers, white bass up to 13 inches, a few freshwater drum, and one channel catfish at 22 inches. These fish were caught on crankbaits, Lytle Glitter Spoon, homemade tailspinners, and a Carolina rig with live bait around underwater humps, points, and next to a roadbed. July 31 & August 1

I guided the same clients both days at Swanson Lake, and we caught two Master Anglers including a 26.50-inch wiper and a 38-inch flathead catfish. We also caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 11 and 18 inches, white bass up to 13 inches, a few walleye up to 25.50 inches, and a channel catfish about 20 inches. These fish were caught around underwater humps, points, and next to a roadbed using crankbaits, Silver Buddy Bladebait, Homemade Tailspinners, Lytle's Glitter spoons, and a Carolina rig with live bait The surface water temperature was in the upper 70s in the morning and in mid 80s by late afternoon.
