October 30, 31
I went fishing at a private sandpit in the afternoon and caught good
numbers of largemouth bass between 10 and 18 inches, crappies up to
13 inches, and bluegill up to 10 inches. I caught these fish on
dropshot rigs using a 4-inch plastic worm and Zoom Super Fluke
Jr. along the edge of a deep weed beds in depths of 10 to 18 feet.
October 29
I went fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon and caught good
numbers of white bass up to 12 inches and smaller wipers up to 18
inches, including one Master Angler wiper at 24.50 inches. These
fish were caught on a medium diving crankbait and a dropshot rigs
with plastic baits using a 3/4 ounce prototype ReelBait Walleye
Flasher Jig as a weight on the tag end of the line. I fished around
underwater humps. The main lake surface water temperature is
averaging around 57 degrees.
October 25-27
I went fishing at a private sandpit for a few hours in the afternoon
and caught good numbers of largemouth bass up to 18 inches, crappies
up to 14 inches, and bluegills up to 9 inches. These fish were
caught on dropshot rigs using a 4-inch plastic worm and 1.50-inch
Shad Assassin along the edge of a deep weed beds in depths of 10 to
18 feet.
October 23
I went fishing at Red Willow lake in the afternoon for a few hours
and caught good numbers of white bass and smaller wipers. They were
caught around underwater humps and flats next to deep water using
medium diving crankbaits and dropshot rigs using small plastic
baits. I also caught a Master Angler largemouth bass at 22 inches by
slow rolling a spinnerbait next to stumps on a main lake point. The
main lake surface water temperature is averaging around 60 degrees.

October 22
I took a friend fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon, and we
caught good numbers of smaller wipers between 12 and 18 inches and
white bass up to 13 inches on medium diving crankbaits fishing
around main lake points, humps, and flats next to deep water. I also
caught a Master Angler largemouth bass at 20.50 inches using a
tubebait, pitching it next to a stump near the mouth of a cove. The
surface water temperature is averaging around 60 degrees with the
water clarity is between 12 to 15 inches.

October 20, 21
I went fishing at a private sandpit in the afternoon for a few hours
and caught good numbers of largemouth bass between 10 and 18 inches
and crappies up to 12 inches. These fish were caught on dropshot
rigs using a 4-inch plastic worm, and a suspending jerkbait, fished
around the edges of deep weed beds along the drop- off.
October 19
My brother Tim and I went fishing at
Medicine Creek Reservoir near Cambridge, Nebraska. We caught wipers
between 15 and 20 inches, crappies between 10 and 12 inches,
largemouth bass between 12 and 17 inches, and one walleye at 17
inches. These fish were caught on crankbaits, jigging spoons, a jig
head with a 3-inch plastic worm attached, and a dropshot rig
with a 4-inch plastic worm using Walleye Flasher Jig as a weight on
the tag end of the line. The fish were caught around main lake
points, underwater humps, flats next to deep water, coves, and along
the dam areas. The surface water temperature is in the low 60s with
the water clarity is about 15 inches.
October 18
My brother Tim and I went fishing at Enders Lake and we caught good
numbers of wiper up to 22 inches, white bass up to 16 inches,
crappies up to 12 inches, fiive walleyes between 13 and 17
inches, and eight smallmouth bass up to 16 inches. These fish were
caught on medium diving crankbaits, lipless crankbaits, dropshot
rigs with Berkley Gulp Minnow Grub and a ReelBait Walleye
Flasher Jig as a weight on the tag end of the line, jigging spoons,
and jigheads with a 3-inch plastic worm attached. The fish were
caught around main lake points, underwater humps, and flats next to
deep water. The surface water temperature is in the upper 50s and
the water clarity is averaging about 30 inches.
October 17
I went fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon. I'm still
catching good numbers of white bass and smaller wipers on medium
diving crankbaits and dropshot rigs using Berkley Gulp minnow grub
and a Walleye Flasher Jig as a weight on the tag end of the line.
These fish were caught around underwater humps in depth of 8 to 15
feet. I also caught a 30-inch flathead catfish on a rubber-skirted
jig and plastic worm combo next to a underwater stump on a main
lake point, and a 19-inch largemouth bass on a tubebait pitching
next to standing timber near the mouth of a cove. The surface water
temperature is averaging about 60 degrees.
October 16
I went fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon and caught good
numbers of white bass and smaller wipers. These fish were caught on
medium diving crankbaits and dropshot rigs with a Berkley Gulp
Minnow Grub and a ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig as a weight. The fish
were caught around underwater humps in depths of 8 to 15 feet. The
surface water temperature is in the upper 50s, and the water
clarity is averaging about 12 inches.
October 13-15

October 12
My brother Tim and I went fishing at a private sandpit in the
afternoon. We caught good numbers of largemouth bass between 10 and
19 inches, crappies up to 15 inches, and 2 walleyes at 22 and 18
inches. These fish were caught on dropshot rigs with the new Berkley
Gulp 2-inch minnow Grub using a Walleye Flasher Jig as a weight on
the tag end of the line, a jig and 4-inch plastic worm combo, and a
blade bait (Silver Buddy). We were fishing along the deep drop off
in depth of 10 to 20 feet.
October 11
I
guided at Red Willow Lake. We're still catching good number of
smaller wipers and white bass on medium diving crankbaits, and on
dropshot rigs with the new Berkley Gulp 2-inch plastic grub, using a
ReelBait Walleye Flasher Jig as a weight on the tag end of the line,
around main lake points and humps. We also caught one Master Angler
largemouth bass at 20.50", plus three smaller largemouth on
crankbait, a tubebait, and dropshot rigs with Berkley 2" plastic
grub around standing timbers and stumps along the main lake drop
off. The surface water temperature is in the low 60s.
October 9
I guided on Red Willow Lake and we caught three Master Anglers
including two largemouth bass at 21 inches and a 26-inch wiper. We
also caught good numbers of smaller wipers and white bass. They were
caught on medium diving crankbaits around main lake points, humps
and flats next to deep water, and the mouths of coves. We also
caught wipers and white bass on jigging spoons around underwater
humps. I caught one of the 21-inch bass pitching a tubebait around
standing timber next to a creek channel that swings close to shore.
I caught the other 21-inch bass on a crankbait around a brush pile
near the mouth of a cove. The surface water temperature is in the
lower 60s on the main lake, and the water clarity is about 12
inches.

October 7
I
took my doctor (chiropractor) fishing at Red Willow Lake in the
afternoon, and we caught two Master Angler wipers (28" and 24"),
plus good numbers of smaller wipers and white bass. They were caught
on medium diving crankbaits around main lake points, humps, and
flats next to deep water. I also caught one largemouth bass at 18.50
inches pitching a tubebait along a rocky bluff back in a cove. The
surface water temperature is in the lower 60s, and the water clarity
is averaging about 12 inches.
October 3-5
I guided at Red Willow Lake and we caught three Master Anglers
including a 40-inch northern pike, a 26-inch wiper, and a 21-inch
largemouth bass. We also caught smaller wipers up to 18 inches,
white bass up to 13 inches, largemouth bass up to 17 inches, a
northern pike at 31 inches, and one channel catfish at 24 inches.
These fish were caught on medium diving crankbaits fishing around
main lake points, humps, flats next to deep water, and back in
coves. On October 5 we also caught good numbers of smaller wiper and
white bass on jigging spoons fishing around underwater humps. The
surface water temperature is averaging around 60 degrees with the
water clarity around 10 inches.

October 2
I
went fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon for a few hours.
I'm still catching smaller wipers and white bass on medium diving
crankbait around humps and points. I also caught a 21-inch walleye
off a deep points and a 14-inch smallmouth bass on a spinnerbait off
a flat next to deep water. The water temperature is averaging about
60 degrees and the water clarity is about 10 inches.
