September 30

I went largemouth bass fishing at Red Willow Lake late in the afternoon. I caught six bass including one Master Angler measuring 22.50". The other five measured 18, 16.75, 16, 15.25, and 13 inches. They were caught on a shallow diving crankbait, a buzzbait, a jig and plastic crawdad combo, and a Texas- rigged plastic bait (Senko) fished around main lake points, secondary points in coves, and along the creek channel edges swinging next to the shoreline in depths of eight feet or less. The surface water temperature is in the mid 60s.

September 24

I went largemouth bass fishing at a private sandpit in the evening to try out a spinnerbait made by Cabela's, the Livin' Eye Shad Head Titanium model. I caught four bass including two Master Anglers measuring 20.50 and 20 inches. The other two were 18 and 15 inches. They were caught in next to weedbeds, cattails, and laydown trees on the windy shoreline side of the sandpit, in about five feet of water.

September 22

I guided on Enders Lake and we caught wipers between 12 and 23 inches and white bass up to 15 inches on dropshot rigs with gizzard shad, jigging spoons and Cabela's tailspinners. We caught them around main lake points and underwater humps in depths of 22 feet or less.

September 21

I went to Keith Sebelius Lake to fish an Angling Nebraska bass tournament. My fishing partner and I placed 1st with five largemouth bass weighting 12.90 pounds. We caught them on crankbaits and spinnerbaits worked around laydown trees and standing timber along the drop-off in the coves and along the creek channel edges.

September 20

I guided on Enders Lake and we caught one Master Angler wiper at 24.25 inches. We caught additional wipers up to 21 inches, white bass up to 15 inches, channel catfish up to 27 inches, and small walleye. They were caught around underwater humps and main lake points in depths of 25 feet or less. We used dropshot rigs with gizzard shad and one-ounce jigging spoons.

September 19

I went Fishing at a private sandpit in the afternoon and caught good numbers of largemouth bass between 14 and 18 inches on crankbaits and Texas-rigged plastic baits (Senko) along the first drop-off in depths of four to eight feet.

September 15-17

I went fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon (a friend joined me 9/16) and caught three Master Anglers largemouth bass at 23.50", 21", and 20.75", plus other largemouth bass up to 18". They were caught on crankbaits and Texas-rigged plastic baits around main lake points, secondary points in coves, and along the creek channel edges in depth of 10 feet or less. I also caught good numbers of white bass and smaller wipers (10 to 20 inches) in the same locations on crankbaits. The surface water temperature is averaging 71 degrees, and the water clarity is 8 to 12 inches.

September 13

I guided on Enders Lake and we caught two Master Angler Wipers (26.50" and 24"). We caught additional wipers between 12 and 23.50 inches, white bass up to 15 inches, channel catfish up to 20 inches, and one walleye at 15.25 inches around underwater humps and main lake points in depths of 25 feet or less. We used dropshot rigs with gizzard shad and 1-ounce jigging spoons.

September 12

I guided on Red Willow Lake and we caught white bass, small wipers, channel catfishs, largemouth bass, and one non-keeper walleye on dropshot rigs with gizzard shad, homemade spinnerbaits, and topwater plugs. We fish around main lake points, humps, and along the creek channels edges in depths of 20 feet or less. The surface water temperature is approximately 70 degrees, and the water clarity is about 6 to 10 inches.

September 7, 8

I went to Keith Sebelius Lake in Kansas to fish a KBAA bass tournament. My fishing partner and I placed 4th on Saturday with five largemouth bass weighting a little under 11 pounds. We caught them on jig ' n plastic trailers combos and crankbaits worked around laydown trees and standing timber along the creek channel edges and mouths of a coves.

September 6

I took a friend fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon and we caught white bass and largemouth bass on crankbaits and spinnerbaits in depths of 10 feet or less around main lake points and secondary points in coves.

September 5

I went fishing at a private sandpit in the afternoon and caught good numbers of largemouth bass between 12 and 18 inches on crankbaits along points near the first dropoff in depths of 6 to 10 feet.

September 3

I took my father-in-law and brother-in-law fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon. We caught good numbers of white bass up to 12 inches, smaller wipers, crappies up to 11 inches, and one 30-inch northern pike on dropshot rigs using gizzard shad around main lake points and humps in depths of 18 feet or less. The water clarity has improved to approximately 8 to 10 inches.

September 1, August 31

I guided the same clients both days on Red Willow Lake. We caught two Master Angler fish including a 30.50-inch wiper on a gizzard shad, and a 21-inch largemouth bass on a Chug Bug topwater bait. We caught additional wipers up to 23.50", white bass and crappies up to 12 inches, largemouth bass up to 18 inches, channel catfish up to 25 inches, and one 15-inch walleye. We used dropshot rigs with live shad, Chug Bugs, and Cabela's Tailspinners in depths of 18 feet or less around main lake points, humps, and flats next to the creek channel.
