NOVEMBER - DECEMBER 2002

December 15

I took Larry Porter (Omaha World Herald Outdoors Editor) and my brother Rod fishing at Red Willow Lake. We caught good numbers of crappies up to 12 inches, white bass up to 11 inches, small wipers, a few non-keeper walleye, and a few perch using dropshot rigs with 1.50- and 3-inch Shad Assassins, 2.50-inch Sassy Shads, and 3-inch Powerbait Bass Minnows. These fish were caught along the creek channel edges in depth of 28 to 33 feet.

December 10

I took a friend and his brother fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon. We caught good numbers of crappies and white bass up to one pound using dropshot rigs with 1.50- and 3-inch Shad Assassins and 2.50-inch Sassy Shads. These fish were caught along the creek channel edges in depths of 28 to 33 feet. The surface water temperature is 33 degrees on the main lake, and the lake is starting to ice over.

December 7

I took my brother fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon, and we caught good numbers of crappies and white bass up to 1 pound. We caught these fish on dropshot rigs using 3-inch Shad Assassins and 2.50-inch Sassy Shads in depths of 28 to 33 feet along the creek channel edges.

December 6

I took a friend fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon. We caught good numbers of crappies and white bass up to 1 pound, one Master Angler walleye at 30", plus two non-keeper walleyes (14"), and one northern pike approximately 24 inches. They were caught on dropshot rigs using a 3-inch Shad Assassin and 2.50-inch Sassy Shad along the creek channel edges in depth of 28 to 33 feet. The main lake surface water temperature is in the upper 30s.

December 1, 2

I went to Red Willow Lake in the afternoon and caught good numbers of white bass and crappies up to 1 pound, wipers between 10 and 18 inches, and three walleye ( 16", 14" and 13"). They were caught on a dropshot rig using a 3-inch Shad Assassin along the creek channel edges in depth of 27 to 33 feet. The surface water temperature is in the upper 30s.

November 29

I went fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon and caught good numbers of white bass and crappies up to 1 pound. I caught these fish on a dropshot rig with a 3-inch Shad Assassin, and my brother's homemade slab tailspinner, in depths of 27 to 33 feet along the creek channel edges. The surface water temperature is around 40 degrees on the main lake.

November 27, 28

I went to a private sandpit in the late afternoon and caught three largemouth bass (20", 17", and 16"). They were caught on a dropshot rig with a 3-inch plastic paddletail grub along the edge of a deep weedbed in 12 to 15 feet of water.

November 22

I guided on Red Willow Lake and we caught good numbers of white bass and crappies up to 1.25 pounds, wipers between 10 and 18 inches including one Master Angler wiper at 29 inches, and one 22-inch channel catfish. We caught the fish on dropshot rigs using small 3-inch plastic baits in depths of 26 to 33 feet along the creek channel edges. The surface water temperature is in the mid 40s.

November 19, 21

I went fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon and caught good numbers of white bass and crappies up to 12 inches, a few walleyes up to 16 inches, and one largemouth bass at 17 inches. The fish were caught along the creek channel edges next to main lake points and humps in depths of 26 to 33 feet on a dropshot rig with a 3-inch Shad Assassin, and my brother's homemade slab tailspinner.

November 15

I took a friend fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon. We caught white bass and crappies up to 12 inches and two 14-inch walleye on dropshot rigs using a small plastic minnow. These fish were caught along the creek channel edges that swing next to main lake points and humps in depths of 27 to 33 feet.

November 12, 13, 14

I went fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon and caught good numbers of white bass and crappies up to 12 inches and wipers between 10 and 27 inches. The fish were caught on dropshot rigs using small plastic baits and my brother's homemade slab tailspinner. I caught them along the creek channel edges that swing next to main lake points and humps in depth of 26 to 32 feet. The surface water temperature is in the low 40s.

November 8

I guided on Red Willow Lake, and we caught good numbers of crappies and white bass up to 12 inches, one Master Angler wiper at 24.50 inches, plus other wipers up to 18 inches, and two 14-inch walleyes. We caught them on dropshot rigs using small plastic baits along the creek channel edges that swing next to main lake points and underwater humps in depths of 24 to 32 feet.

November 7

I went fishing at Red Willow Lake in the afternoon with a friend. We caught good numbers of white bass and crappies up to 12 inches, and wipers between 12 and 20 inches on dropshot rigs using small plastic minnows. These fish were caught around the ends of points and underwater humps next to the creek channel in depths of 24 to 32 feet. The surface water temperature is in the low 40s.
