August 31, September 1

I guided the same clients both days on Red Willow Lake. We caught two Master Angler fish including a 30.50-inch wiper on a gizzard shad, and a 21-inch largemouth bass on a Chug Bug topwater bait. We caught additional wipers up to 23.50", white bass and crappies up to 12 inches, largemouth bass up to 18 inches, channel catfish up to 25 inches, and one 15-inch walleye. We used dropshot rigs with live shad, Chug Bugs, and Cabela's Tailspinners in depths of 18 feet or less around main lake points, humps, and flats next to the creek channel.

August 29, 30

I went largemouth bass fishing and caught two Master Anglers (both 21") on a jig and pork frog around standing timber in coves in a depth of 10 feet or less. I caught other largemouth bass between 12 and 18 inches on crankbaits and spinnerbaits around main lake points, secondary points in coves and shallow underwater humps in depths of 15 feet or less. I also caught good numbers of white bass up to 12 inches on crankbaits around main lake points. The surface water temperature is in the low 70s and the water clarity is approximately 8 to 12 inches.

August 27, 28

I went largemouth bass fishing in the afternoon and caught three Master Anglers - two at 20.25" and one at 20" on a crankbait, spinnerbait, and jig and pork frog. I also caught one Master Angler wiper at 24 inches caught on a spinnerbait. I caught other largemouth bass between 12 and 19.75 inches on crankbaits and spinnerbaits, and one northern pike at 30 inches on a crankbait around main lake points, secondary points in coves, and shallow underwater humps in depths of 15 feet or less.

August 23 - 25

I guided the same clients for three days and we caught seven Master Angler largemouth bass (21.25", two at 21", three at 20.50", and one at 20"). We caught other largemouth bass between 14 and 19.50 inches on Carolina-rigged salamanders around main lake points, secondary points in coves, and humps in depth of 15 feet or less. We did some dropshot fishing with gizzard shad and caught wipers up to 22.50 inches, white bass and crappies up to 12 inches, and one 15-inch walleye around an island in depths of 20 feet or less. We also tossed Cabela's Tailspinners around the island and caught white bass, small wipers, and one 17-inch walleye. The surface water temperature is in the low 70s and the water clarity is approximately 8 to 10 inches.

August 22

I guided on Red Willow Lake and we caught three Master Angler Fish including two wipers (28" and 27.50") and one flathead catfish (45") on Cabela's 6-inch Livin' Eye Paddletails around a main lake hump in 15 to 20 feet of water. We also caught largemouth bass up to 16 inches, smallmouth bass up to 12 inches, white bass up to 12 inches, one northern pike (30"), and one small walleye on crankbaits around main lake points, humps, and points in coves in depths of 15 feet or less. We did some dropshot fishign with gizzard shad for about one hour and caught white bass and crappies up to 12 inches  around an island in 10 to 18 feet of water. The visibility of the water is approximately 4 to 6 inches.

August 21

I guided on Red Willow Lake and we caught three Master Angler Fish including two largemouth bass (21" and 20") on a plastic bait and a crankbait and one walleye (29") on a Cabela's 6-inch Livin' Eye Paddletail. We caught additional largemouth bass between 14 and 17 inches, two smallmouth bass (12 and 13 inches), and white bass up to 12 inches on crankbaits in a depth of 12 feet or less around main lake points, humps, and points in coves. We also caught white bass, smaller wipers, and crappies up to 12 inches on dropshot rigs with gizzard shad in depths of 12 to 18 feet in the same locations. The visibility of the water is approximately 4 to 6 inches.

August 20

I took my son Chris and his friends fishing at Red Willow Lake and we caught largemouth bass up to 17 inches and white bass up to 12 inches on crankbaits in depths of 10 feet or less around main lake points, humps and mouths of coves. We also caught white bass and crappies up to 12 inches on dropshot rigs with shad in depths of 12 to 20 feet around humps and points.

August 19

I took a friend largemouth bass fishing at Red Willow Lake and we caught fish between 12 and 17 inches on crankbaits around main lake points, shallow underwater humps, and points around mouths of coves in depths of 10 feet or less. We also caught white bass, smaller wipers, and one walleye about 15 inches in the same locations and with the same lures.

August 18

I guided on Red Willow Lake and we caught one Master Angler wiper at 30 inches on a dropshot rig using a gizzard shad. We're still catching smaller wiper between 16 and 22 inches, white bass and crappies up to up 12 inches, channel catfish between 14 and 26 inches. We also caught one walleye today at 15.25 inches. We used dropshot rigs with shad and a few white bass were caught on  crankbaits fishing around main lake points and humps in depths of 10 to 20 feet. The surface water temperature is in the lower 70s and the visibility of the water is approximately four inches.

August 17

I went fishing at Red Willow in the afternoon and caught two Master Angler fish. The first was a 26-inch wiper taken on a Cabela's 6-inch Livin' Eye Paddletail. The second was a 21.50-inch largemouth bass caught on a crankbait. I boated additional largemouth bass between 12 and 17 inches, smaller wipers up 18 inches and white bass up to 12 inches on a crankbaits. They were caught around main lake points, humps, and mouths of coves in depth of 15 feet or less.

August 16

I guided on Red Willow Lake and caught two Master Angler largemouth bass (21.50" and 20.25") on a  medium-depth diving crankbait. My clients and I caught smaller bass between 12 and 16 inches on crankbaits around main lake points and the mouths of coves. We also caught small wipers and white bass on dropshot rigs with gizzard shad, and crankbaits, around main lake points and humps in depths of 15 feet or less. Water clarity is approximately four inches after the lake turned over this week.

August 15

I guided on Red Willow Lake and we caught one Master Angler wiper at 31.50 inches on a Cabela's six-inch Livin' Eye Paddletail. We're still catching smaller wiper between 10 and 22 inches, white bass and crappies up to 12 inches, and we took two non-keeper walleye. We used dropshot rigs with shiners and gizzard shad, and crankbaits around the main lake points and humps in depths of 20 feet or less. The surface water temperature dropped to approximately 70 degrees and the lake has turned over with the visibility of the water at about six inches.

August 14

My brother Rod and I guided four clients at Red Willow Lake. We caught two Master Angler fish including one 25.50-inch wiper caught on a Cabela's 6-inch Livin' Eye Paddletail, and 21.75-inch  largemouth bass on a crankbait. We caught additional wipers between 10 and 22 inches, largemouth bass between 10 and 17 inches, crappies and white bass up to 12 inches, and one walleye at 22 inches. They were caught on dropshot rigs with gizzard shad, Livin' Eye Paddletails, and crankbaits around main lake points and humps in depths of 22 feet or less.

August 13

I guided on Red Willow Lake and we caught two Master Angler largemouth bass (21.50" and 21")  on crankbaits. We caught additional largemouth bass up to 18 inches, white bass and crappies up to 12 inches, wipers up to 22 inches, and channel catfish up to 26 inches. They were caught on crankbaits and dropshot rigs with gizzard shad around main lake points and humps in depths of 20 feet or less. The surface water temperature dropped to 74 degrees due to a cold front that came through yesterday.

August 12

I guided on Red Willow Lake and we caught two Master Angler wipers (25" and 24") on 6-inch Cabela's Livin' Eye Paddletails. We caught additional wipers between 10 and 21 inches, crappies up to 13 inches, white bass up to 12 inches, and largemouth bass up to 17.50 inches. These fish were caught around main lake points and humps in depths of 22 feet or less using dropshot rigs with shad and shiners, crankbaits, and Cabela's Livin' Eye Paddletails. The main lake surface water temperature is in the mid 70s.

August 9

I guided on Red Willow Lake and we caught three Master Angler fish including two wipers (30" and 25.50") and one walleye (29"). The biggest wiper was caught on a 3-inch gizzard shad on a dropshot rig, and the smaller wiper and the walleye were caught on a Cabela's 6-inch Livin' Eye Paddletail. We caught additional wipers between 15 and 23 inches, walleye between 14 and 17 inches, white bass and crappies up to 12 inches, and largemouth bass up to 17 inches. These fish were caught on dropshot rigs with shad, 3-inch plastic baits, crankbaits, and Cabela's 4- and 6-inch Livin' Eye Paddletails around main lake points and underwater humps in depth of 24 feet or less. The main lake surface temperature is 76 degrees.

August 8

I fished with my brother Rod at Red Willow Lake in the late afternoon. We only got to fish for about one hour, because a thunderstorm moved over the lake. I caught one Master Angler Wiper that measured 30 inches on a Cabela's 6-inch Livin' Eye Paddletail in approximately 20 feet of water near the end of a main lake point.

August 6, 7

I guided on Red Willow Lake and we caught three Master Angler wipers (29", 28", and 26.50")  on Cabela's 6-inch Livin' Eye Paddletails. We caught additional wipers between 10 and 23 inches, white bass up to 12 inches, crappies up to 12 inches, walleye between 14 and 16 inches, channel catfish up to 24 inches, and one northern pike at 30 inches. These fish were caught around main lake points and underwater humps in depths of 24 feet or less using dropshot rigs with shad, shiners, and plastic baits, and Cabela's Livin' Eye 4- and 6-inch Paddletails. The surface water temperature is in the upper 70s.

August 4, 5

I guided on Red Willow Lake and we caught eight Master Angler fish including six wipers (29", 25.50", two at 24.50", and two at 24") and two walleyes (29" and 28.50). All were caught on 4- and 6-inch Cabela's Livin' Eye Paddletails. We caught additional wipers between 14 and 23.75 inches, white bass up to 12 inches, crappies up to 13 inches, walleyes between 14 and 22 inches, largemouth bass up to 17 inches, channel catfish up to 25 inches, and one northern pike at 32 inches. These fish were caught on the dropshot rigs using shiners, gizzard shad, and plastic baits, and on crankbaits, and the Cabela's Livin' Eye Paddletails fished around main lake points, underwater humps and along the creek channel edges.

August 2, 3

I guided on Red Willow Lake and we caught seven Master Angler fish including six wipers 27.50", 27" 25.50" 25", and two at 24") and one largemouth bass (21.50"). We caught additional wipers between 10 and 23.50 inches, white bass up to 13 inches, crappies up to 12 inches , largemouth bass between 14 and 18 inches, walleye up to 22 inches, and one northern pike approximately 30 inches. These fish were caught around main lakes points, underwater humps, and along the creek channel edges in depths of 24 feet or less. They were caught on dropshot rigs with shiners and, gizzard shad, and plastic baits, crankbaits, homemade spinnerbaits, and four- and six-inch Cabela's Living Eye Paddletails. The surface water temperature is averaging 76 degrees on the main lake.

August 1

I went fishing at Red Willow Lake in the late afternoon and caught two Master Angler Wipers (27" and 26") plus additional wipers between 20 and 23 inches on Cabela's Livin' Eye 6" Paddletail. I also caught white bass up to 12 inches on the dropshot rigs using small plastic baits. They were caught around an underwater hump near a creek channel in depths of 20 to 25 feet. The surface water temperature is in the upper 70s.
