August 28, 30, 31 & September 1, 2
I guided on Red Willow with clients and we caught 17 Master
Angler fish, including 14 wipers (24" to 30.5") and 3 largemouth
bass (23", 21", and 20"). The wipers were caught on live
gizzard shad and the largemouth bass were caught on crankbaits. We're also
catching good numbers of white bass, small wipers, and largemouth bass on
crankbaits around main lakes points and flats next to deep water. The Master
Angler wipers are still be caught around the end of main lake points and
underwater humps in deeper water (20 to 25').The surface water temperature
is in the low 70s
August 20, 22-25
I guided on Red Willow with clients and we caught 25 Master
Angler fish, including 23 wipers (24" to 29.5") and 2 channel
catfish (31" and 32"). All were caught on live gizzard shad.
We're still fishing the same patterns as last week and we're also catching
goods numbers of 18" to 23" wipers in the same locations. My
clients and I are still catching largemouth bass, white bass, and small
wipers on topwater plugs and small crankbaits around main lake points in
shallow water. The surface water temperature is in the mid 70s.
August 13-17
I guided on Red Willow Lake with clients and we caught 35
Master Angler wipers (24" to 29"), and they all were caught
on live gizzard shad around the end of main lake points and underwater
humps next to deep water (30' or less of water). We're also catching good
numbers of channel catfish in the same locations as the
bigger wipers. We're still catching good numbers of largemouth bass, small
wipers, and white bass on topwater plugs and small crankbaits around main
lake points in shallower water next to shore. The surface water temperature
is in the mid 70s, and the water level has stopped dropping. August 15
was the day they shut off the water for the irrigation season.
August 4-12
I guided on Red Willow Lake with clients and we caught 40 Master
Angler fish including 31 wipers (24" to 32"), 8 largemouth bass
(20.5" to 23"), and 1 channel catfish (30"). All were
caught on live gizzard shad, except 7 largemouth bass caught on topwater
plugs. We're still catching wipers and catfish around the main
lake points and underwater humps next to deep water (32' or less of water),
and we're also catching good numbers of largemouth bass, small wipers, and
white bass on topwater plugs and small crankbaits around main lake points
near deep water. The surface water temperature is in the upper 70s.
July 30 - August 3
I guided on Red Willow with clients and we caught 23 Master
Angler fish including 21 wipers (25.5" to 32"), 1 channel catfish
(31"), and 1 northern pike (36"). All were caught on live gizzard
shad. We're still fishing the same patterns as last week, and we're also
catching good numbers of largemouth bass, white bass, and small wipers on
small crankbaits and topwater plugs around main lake points next to deep
water. The water temperature is in the low 80s and the water level is still
dropping.
