My friend from Colorado and I fished at Swanson Reservoir. We caught good numbers of wipers including two Master Angler wipers, largemouth bass, white bass, and a Master Angler channel catfish. We caught these fish on suspending jerkbaits, plastic swimbaits, Reelbait Flasher Jig with Berkley Gulp! Crawler, a spinnerbait, and a swim jig with twin tail grub along edges of willow trees at the west end of the lake and near the dam areas in depths of 36 feet or less. The surface wate temperature was in the lower 60s.


I took a friend fishing on April 20 and guided two clients on April 21 at Swanson Reservoir. We caught good numbers of wipers, walleyes, largemouth bass, white bass, and a channel catfish around underwater islands, road bed, edges of willow trees, and the dam areas in depths of 32 feet or less. We were using suspending jerkbaits, swimbaits, Reel Bait Flasher Jigs with live crawlers, shiners, and Berkley Gulp! Crawlers, Carolina Rig with shiners and live crawlers, and a Drop Shot Rig using Berkley Gulp!. The surface water temperature was averaging in the upper 50s.

I guided on Swanson Reservoir on both days. My clients and I caught wipers up to 25.25 inches, white bass up to 15 inches, largemouth bass up to 18 inches, and a smallmouth bass. We caught these fish on suspended jerkbaits, and a Reel Bait Flasher Jigs with Berkley Gulp! Alive Minnow Grubs. They were caught around the ridge next to the dam areas, along the dam, shallow underwater island, and next to willow trees in depths of 38 feet or less.

My brother Tim and I fished at 4 different sand pit lakes. We caught good numbers of largemouth bass up to 18.50 inches around laydown trees, underwater brush piles, edges of weed beds, and next to deep points in depths of 20 feet or less. We caught these bass on swimbaits, jig and plastic craws, and Texas rig with plastic craws.
I fished at two different private sand pit lakes for a few hours in the late afternoon on both days. I caught good numbers of largemouth bass up to 18 inches on swimbaits and suspended jerkbaits. They were caught around underwater brush piles, edges of weed beds, and next to deep points in depths of 20 feet or less.
I took my boat sponsor Jeff Westerby (Owner of the Boat Dock in Grand Island, NE) and his friend fishing at Swanson Reservoir in the afternoon. We caught wipers, walleyes, white bass, and channel catfish along a ridge near the dam areas in depths of 32 to 40 feet using Reel Bait Flasher Jig with Berkley Gulp! Alive Crawler. We also caught largemouth bass along the dam areas on Ralapa X-Rap in depths of 15 feet or less. The surface water temperature was in the lower 60s.

I fished at three different private sand pit lakes in the mid afternoon for a few hours on all for days. I caught good numbers of largemouth bass up to 19.50 inches. These bass were caught around underwater brush piles, weed beds, points, and edges of flats next to deep water in depths of 20 feet or less. I caught them on a 3/4 oz. Lytle’s Secret Tail Spinner, jig and plastic craws, 4″ tube bait, suspended jerkbaits, crankbaits, and swimbait.

We caught good numbers of largemouth bass between 10 and 19.75 inches, plus I caught two Master Angler largemoth bass at 22 and 20.50 inches. These bass were caught on jig and plastic craws, spinnerbait, rattle trap, and Ralapa X-Rap around underwater brush piles, edges of weed beds, next to points, and edges of flats next to deep water in depths of 20 feet or less.
